Ahem, is there something these Singaporean emigres know more than us who're still around? -eveline
As if anticipating that Singapore may not be the most perfect place on earth to live, the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Lion City has drawn up a list of rather revealing questions for citizens planning to emigrate or live abroad.
Before Singaporeans can obtain a Certificate of No Criminal Conviction - often required by the country of immigration - they must tick at least three options from a list of 10 compiled by the ministry as the most likely reasons for waving goodbye. The list of questions include:
-Singapore is too regulated and stifling?
-less stressful education opportunities?
-a more relaxed lifestyle?
-uncertainty about the future of Singapore?
-the avoidance of military service?
-and, a high cost of living?
But if these officially created reasons don't fit the bill, there's space for writing in one's own personal escape clause.
