Aren't they lurvely? My new Red Melons, three little discus I bought from an aquarium at Serangoon North. I have been hunting for this particular kind of discus for a long time and today, along with Faith and mommy, we went fish shopping.
I almost gave up, because all the aquariums there did not stock it. Then, at the last aquarium I entered, I saw them inside a tank with some other unattractive breeds. I noticed them right away, because they were quite round when their fins are extended (I am told this is a good trait for discus), and their heads were nicely shaped. Normally, the lousy discus they sell at aquariums have flat heads and they look arrow-shaped. These guys had round heads and beautiful finnage. And store guy agreed that the ones I was admiring were a really nice bunch, and that he got them from a breeder.
So now they are happily hangin' in the tank. The older discus are not being too friendly to them, the big one keeps poking them with his nose, I think they are just being territorial.
