One Malaysia blogger returns home while another goes on holiday. But before minishorts left for Kuantan, she did a Blog Rating System post (The rating terminology used is Malaysian, ours would be G, PG, NC16, M18 and R21).
This was in response to an email she received from a concerned mother, who held her partially responsible for letting her profane and unsuitable blog be featured in The Star newspaper, thereby allowing her two young adolescent children to discover minishorts' blog and to see it as a role model blog.
From the email she received:
I feel you do bear some of the responsibilities for this. By allowing yourself and your website to be highlighted in a national newspaper, you have knowingly and willingly allowed children to have access to your website which you clearly know contained unsuitable materials for young minds.
Eh, how come my blog is 18PL (like our R21)? My site is very pure, ok? Where got sex, violence and profanities? Ok, there was that one naked penguin photo, but I am certain my blog is Disney!
And in case you are wondering what minishorts was talking about when she insists I am not 12, it was in response to my comment here. Heheh.
Excerpt from the Blog Rating System post:
The Minishorts’ Blog-suitability-for-Readers Rating System
U: For all ages. Very clean, almost Disney. But might have kissing scenes from time to time. No worries, no profanities.
18SG: For 18 and above only. Sometimes with profanities. Violent content, might cause readers to burst out in anger and start banging head against monitor incontrollably.
18SX: For 18 and above only. Sometimes with profanities. Sexy, and raunchy, and might cause readers to turn horny. Ooh, very, very bad.
18PL: For 18 and above and very mature minds only. Heavy topics like politics and life, usually. Sometimes with profanities. Sometimes with sex. Sometimes with violence. When you read sites like these, you just might turn violent and start humping the computer.
