My friend, Ben, whose own birthday falls a few days after mine, called it "birthday blues". I am not sure if it was this blues thing, because I am quite convinced it was because I could not decide what my wife should get me.
When a couple has been together for many years, it gets harder and harder to get gifts for each other. I am sure this is so whether you make $60,000 a year or $600,000. In fact, I think it is worse for rich people who have been married for a long time. What do you get for a person who has everything? Another Mercedes Benz? A new set of gold taps? Gold-plated peanuts? It must be hard.
