There is now a blog, SoryElectronics.com, to track the fracas surrounding Sony's use of a dangerous piece of software called a rootkit that can make your PC vulnerable to all kinds of attacks, as part of a scheme to restrict the usage of music that comes on Sony BMG's CDs.
For a timeline of what happened, go to this Boing Boing post.
Even mainstream business reporters like Mathew Ingram of Canada's "The Globe and Mail" condemns Sony for this act.
And don't even think of using the "Uninstaller" provided by Sony after much public pressure. Some researchers have found that using Sony's rootkit "Uninstaller" to remove the malicious rootkit their CDs infected your PC with, will leave your PC vulnerable in other ways too.
What a royal mess.
