Miyagi and I are still absolutely floored by the response to the Persistently Non-political Podcast specials from the mrbrown show (click here to subscribe). Especially for Number 6, the infamous Bak Chor Mee and Tur Kwa episode.
Even kena mention in Straits Times but chow turtle the buggers placed us in a half page article under the headline "Citizen reporting despite ban on podcasts". Harlo! We are NOT a political podcast, ok? Don't sabo us ah? Prison Got No Broadband leh! (Oh ya! And thanks to uber-mommy for the logo you made for our silly project)
We even had Malaysian visitors who are now convinced that it is "dangerous to eat at Singapore then". No lah, not that dangerous lah. Please come and eat our liver.
What totally blew our minds were the number of downloads and the rate of downloads for that episode. We've had high numbers before, like the first Zhng My Car episode (which is still being downloaded at a steady clip to this day, so much so that we've stop counting liao). But this is the first time we've seen such a high number on the first day alone.
As of now, 84 hours after "PNPP Number 6: Bak Chor Mee" was made available online, the show has been downloaded more than 30,000 times. If you count partial downloads, the number is closer to 50,000.
In. The. Last. 84. Hours.
And that does not include the ones being passed around via email and from handphone to handphone (usually Bluetoothed).
Wow.
And to top it off, you crazy people also made our show the Number 5 Number 3 show on Libsyn's Hott 100 directory.
Libsyn.com or Liberated Syndication, is the hosting company that specialises in podcasts. It is one of the most popular services around. We host our shows on their servers, and they are a great service. In fact, if it was not for their solid infrastructure and flat-fee pricing, we would have been unable to fulfill the demand for our shows, especially the recent spike.
Liberated Syndication hosts A LOT of podcasts WORLDWIDE. We knew we were around Number 36 to 40 for a while (and we wanted to wait till we were in the Top 20 before we were going to mention it), but we never expected to reach the Number 5 spot so soon. This is so cool!
So THANK YOU all, for liking our show. Now die lah. Maybe have to go daily liao.
