Having just finished our Paris assignment, Ryan and I are off on a road trip to cover the San Diego Comic-Con and to visit San Francisco next week. We'll be there for two weeks, and will be blogging live from there, in text, photos, audio and video, so watch for updates here and on mrbrownshow.com.
We still have sponsorship slots open, so feel free to contact me (firstname.lastname@example.org) if your company is interested in sponsoring our road trip event, or the mrbrown show during this period, or the other shows that we do.
It also led to this video response from Steven Lim, one of her top seven, which had me in stitches. (Youtube text link) Warning: contains vulgarities at the end of the video (artistic reasons?).
I learned many new things watching this video. For example, "big chicken pie" and "wat deverr" are now my new favourite insults. I also learned that "without the nose, you are nothing".
The comments for that video were just as entertaining:
"Xiaxue, you are DUST. YOU ARE DUSTY."
"You and Xiaxue should have sex."
"Xiaxue and Steven are so made for each other! Mike (Xiaxue's bf) dun be a lightbulb!"
"You are a CHICKEN PIE?!! omg this is so. funny."
"PS: It's Ugh-Lee. Not Ugh-Ree. (Now excuse me while I roll onto the floor laughing.)"
"Great english. 'Ridicurous'"
"HAHAHAHAHAHA THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE BEST THING IN YOUTUBE!!!
this video is awesome...i hope ur just pretending to be retarded, cus if not...you seriously need some help.
are all singaporeans this asmusing? haha if it is damn im gonn be visitin singapore soon."
"I don't know what you're saying 90% of the time. But it's hilarious."
"Hui Huang is very cute girl. Keeping some baby fat on the face, she looks an adorable chipmunk which keeps smiling. All events!" Good for happy chipmunk commercials?
"Uykio is very very photogenic. She is pretty in person but all pics turns out to be very striking. All events including photo shoots/ modeling (casual)." Striking=ugly?
"Ah Wing is always so sunny, smiley n adorable which is originated from Hong Kong." I never knew adorable orignated from Hong Kong. Damn them! Always one up on Singapore!
"Jin Lian is a school volleyball player. Athletic, smiley face, Japanese features like F4 Vanness." Er, isn't Vanness a GUY?
"Catherine is youthful n attractive middle aged lady with two kids. She said thanks to spa treatment)" Spas now help you make kids too?
"Gao Ying Ping is an NUS Engineering degree holder. Smart, beautiful n wise." And of course we all know how important wisdom is for a modeling gig.
"Sylvia is a very very good natured, pleasant, sweet girl. She is kind hearted as a nurse." But when she is not a nurse, she will kick your ass.
"Jo is a very handsome Thai boy studying in Singapore. Jo got good built n handsome face. He trained muscles in gym." Many muscles credit him for their better health.
"Louise looks extremely young, kind hearted, cute n adorable. She is also searching for a soul mate, the special someone. Contact us to arrange a date with her." Whether you are looking for models or soul mates, we have it all under one roof.
"Valerie Tan Hao Ting... Look at her. She is not human." What??!!! Oh wait, it says "She is an angel from heaven" after that. Good thing I read to the end of the sentence.
"Lim Julia goes around the world to study. Smart, intelligence plus beauty degree holder" What is a beauty degree holder?
"Amelia Clarissa... There is only one word to describe this girl..Super cute n adorable." Isn't that three words?
"Lih Ming is so adorable that you wanna squeeze her cheek." He doesn't say which which cheek.
And my favourite model in this new batch...
"Christabel Law Hui Lin... Oh my gosh Girl!!! Angelic face with monstrous body!!! Super body with a 22 inches waist!!" Good only for face commercials. Unless you are looking for a monstrous body.
Acclaimed actor Sir Ian McKellen was on the morning show of ChannelNews Asia to promote King Lear when co-host Suzanne Jung asked him one last question, "What do you hope to do in Singapore in your free time?"
You could hear Suzanne's wary "Ok" at the his answer. Hilarious stuff.
We made our way last night to Chinatown for some Pho at Pho 14, a place famous for its good food. It's a little crowded and service a little wanting but still, 7€ for big bowl with lots of beef is a steal by Paris standards. Better than eating Mac's all day. Haha.
Ryan and I just moved to our cheapo 2-star hotel yesterday. It's located near Pigalle, a part of town famous for the Moulin Rouge, the girly shows and sex bars. The room is tiny but clean and costs about 78€ with a simple breakfast included.
The walls are thin so you sometimes hear the er, activities from other rooms. Good thing we are out most of the day shooting.
We trekked up the hill at Montmartre today to see the arty place and the Sacre Coeur. Stunning church inside and a great view of the city.
We found a free internet signal called Neuf, at the Quick restaurant (their MacDonald's) so we quickly whipped out my Macbook to grab email and connect to Skype, to call our families. Internet is blood. Nothing matters more than getting an internet connection, except maybe finding cheap food.
Some travel mini-disasters happened: I left my Nokia charger at the previous hotel so the phone is low in juice until I can get it back. I also cut my right thumb at a cooking demo, plus lost my left contact lens. Bummer.
The work day is long too, but hey, other than that, Paris is really nice. Update you guys when I get a wifi signal again.
