California Road Trip!

We have quite a bit of travel these two months.

Having just finished our Paris assignment, Ryan and I are off on a road trip to cover the San Diego Comic-Con and to visit San Francisco next week. We'll be there for two weeks, and will be blogging live from there, in text, photos, audio and video, so watch for updates here and on mrbrownshow.com.

Xiaxue vs Steven Lim: Let the battle begin!

Since Xiaxue did her assessment of the Top Seven Most Disgusting Bloggers (In the Singapore blogosphere), there has been considerable buzz about her rant.

It also led to this video response from Steven Lim, one of her top seven, which had me in stitches. (Youtube text link) Warning: contains vulgarities at the end of the video (artistic reasons?).

I learned many new things watching this video. For example, "big chicken pie" and "wat deverr" are now my new favourite insults. I also learned that "without the nose, you are nothing".

The comments for that video were just as entertaining:

Mr Tan alerted me to the new additions to Steven Lim's model agency. Yes, his stable has grown! You can read our previous report on this, or check out some of his new talents:

Sir Ian McKellen on CNA

Acclaimed actor Sir Ian McKellen was on the morning show of ChannelNews Asia to promote King Lear when co-host Suzanne Jung asked him one last question, "What do you hope to do in Singapore in your free time?"

You could hear Suzanne's wary "Ok" at the his answer. Hilarious stuff.

Paris: Day 6

We made our way last night to Chinatown for some Pho at Pho 14, a place famous for its good food. It's a little crowded and service a little wanting but still, 7€ for big bowl with lots of beef is a steal by Paris standards. Better than eating Mac's all day. Haha.

Paris Day 5: Montmartre

Ryan and I just moved to our cheapo 2-star hotel yesterday. It's located near Pigalle, a part of town famous for the Moulin Rouge, the girly shows and sex bars. The room is tiny but clean and costs about 78€ with a simple breakfast included.

The walls are thin so you sometimes hear the er, activities from other rooms. Good thing we are out most of the day shooting.

We trekked up the hill at Montmartre today to see the arty place and the Sacre Coeur. Stunning church inside and a great view of the city.

We found a free internet signal called Neuf, at the Quick restaurant (their MacDonald's) so we quickly whipped out my Macbook to grab email and connect to Skype, to call our families. Internet is blood. Nothing matters more than getting an internet connection, except maybe finding cheap food.

Some travel mini-disasters happened: I left my Nokia charger at the previous hotel so the phone is low in juice until I can get it back. I also cut my right thumb at a cooking demo, plus lost my left contact lens. Bummer.

The work day is long too, but hey, other than that, Paris is really nice. Update you guys when I get a wifi signal again.
