We were riding down a fairly downhill portion of the Eastern park connector network on Saturday, and I told everyone to control their descent but the wife hit 30kmh and fell down.
She didn't break anything, but got some cuts and bruises on her face, both palms, both hands, both knees, left shoulder and right elbow.
She sat up and asked me to take a photo of her, so she could see how badly her face got hit, and even remembered to smile.
She did not cry, did not complain, did not flinch, and even got worried that the rest of our party would not continue riding.
Then the tough cookie said to me, as we went back to in cab to see our family doctor to get her wounds cleaned and dressed, "Next time I go down that slope, I will know better."
I raised one eyebrow, and gave her a look that said "Still got NEXT TIME? Wah you the can."
In fact, she was more upset that she could not finish the Eastern Loop.
"Just as I was enjoying myself, breezing downhill, had to fall, aiyah."
I was pale with worry and she just took it all in her stride.
Back home, Joy saw mommy's injuries and said, "Mommy, pain pain ah?"
Yes, my wife replied.
"Wah 'appen?" asked the 2-year-old.
Mommy fell down riding bicycle, Joy-Joy, replied the wife.
And to our surprise, Joy offered to blow on her wounds to make it better.
Where do kids pick up these things?
