My wife and I have a friend, Josephine, who lives in Hong Kong. When my wife was there some months ago, and was shopping, Josephine stopped her from taking a plastic bag from the cashier and whipped out her own shopping bag from her handbag.
"Use this," Josephine said.
The cashier thanked the two of them, saying in Cantonese, "多谢环保" (thanks for saving the environment).
My wife was most impressed by that incident, and so was pleased to get this bag when she bought a dress at Bishan Junction 8.
"I'm going to fold this up and put it in my handbag, so I don't have to use too many plastic bags next time," she said to me.
The free shopping bag even has a Velcro strap and a mini pocket sewn inside. Thoughtful.
