After a rather uneventful flight on a Qatar Airways Airbus A330, my middle-of-the-night flight is now in Doha. I slept for part of the flight since we departed Singapore at 2.30am.
The airport looks new and there seems to be construction going on when I saw the view from my bus (yes, we had to take a bus to the terminal). I spent a little time in the duty free shop checking out tech prices. Not that great.
The flight itself was pleasant enough. The QR flight attendants were efficient and polite. Breakfast was served when it was about 8am Singapore time, and I made the mistake of choosing the "noodle" suggested by the flight steward. It turned out to be this dry orange (yes, orange) coloured beehoon with some chicken. Should have taken the omelette instead.
The thing that puzzled me on the flight though, was why there was no entertainment for a six-hour flight. No headphones were given out and the screen was blank. It was only when I pressed the controller to check that I saw the movies available.
So I took out my airline adaptor (I always pack one, $7 only, so that I can use my own better headphones instead of the awful ones given out by the airlines) and plugged my own headphones in. Ahh, movies to watch.
I am staring at the Departures screen in the transit lounge and my QR flight from Doha to JFK in New York, is some codeshare with United. Oh please don't make it a United flight...
