This MRT Pole Leaner loses it when asked to let others share the pole. Kudos to the uncle who stood up to him when he shouted at the ladies.

As Miyagi put it, "Someone needs to eat on the train right away so SMRT security can come quickly to apprehend the guy."

"Took this on the way to Bishan from Paya Lebar on the circle line at around 9.30pm on 08/09/2013.

Before that the auntie on the priority seat and the woman standing was telling this China guy nicely that he was leaning on the pole and the woman standing didn't have a place to hold on to. The China guy proceeded to shout at the auntie that he can do whatever the hell he wants and I think he proceeded to insult Singaporeans. (didn't catch what he said as I was on earphones)

One uncle at the other end then stepped in and told him he was at fault by leaning against the pole when the train is so crowded and to stop insulting Singaporeans.

Highlight: at 40 seconds China guy made a death threat and said he will kill the uncle if the uncle went to China."

I will be sure to tell this local insurance company that I am about to die or get out of my grave to tell them, when I make my claims.

A raincoat day

It was a raincoat day for me, and I am sure for many of you today.

I still remember walking along Bukit Timah Road to school during heavy rains and trying not to walk into the unseen longkang. Those of you who studied at Bukit Timah Road and Upper Bukit Timah Road will know what I am talking about.

Some of these photos seen online look bad, man. Cars underwater and all.

I thought this little video from DriveShield was a funny way of getting the message of car insurance across, especially in the light of today's little ponding.

Teachers braved the rain with umbrellas to ferry the students through alternative paths to avoid the flooded walkway. We heard that several teachers were drenched in the process. The rain must have been pretty heavy this morning (AYE was closed for a spell due to flooding). Don't ask me, I was still curled up in bed asleep (hey, I work late nights, ok?).

These kids seem to be having fun. In my day, we would've taken off our shoes, slung them around our neck by the laces, and waded through the waters for the lolz.

Fun times.

Wow, Teletext is finally ending its run in Singapore this month, after a run of about 30 years. How is my mother going to check her 4D results, track her shares, or know what time my flight arrives at Changi, without this quaint analogue information service? No, she doesn't have smartphone or tablet and neither is she interested in acquiring them.

And what are we going to do with the red, green, blue and yellow buttons on our tv remotes?

I still remember it was called SBCText. I think some of us still call it that.
